Our Core Values

The Ethos of Jerusalem Church

BIBLICAL TRUTH

The Bible is our guide for all of life and ministry.  It is absolute truth, and we will strive to apply God’s inspired truth everyday by personally and corporately studying and living the gift of His Word.

TEXTS: 2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 4:12; Ps. 119:160; Jn. 17:17

PASSIONATE WORSHIP

At the center of spiritually healthy people and churches is fervent, life-consuming worship.  We desire to help people develop a lifestyle of worship, to worship God more fervently in personal worship, family worship, and corporate worship.

TEXTS: Jn. 4:23-24; Rom. 12:11; Ps. 63:1; Ps. 29:2

HUMBLE TRANSPARENCY

Sharing life and struggles with others and helping others heal and grow is necessary for a healthy and growing church. We are committed to sharing ourselves deeply with a few others and fostering an atmosphere of safe, open, and gracious transparency and communication.

TEXTS: 1 Thess. 5:17; Jude 20; Matt. 5:44; 6:9-13; 9:37-38

NURTURING FAMILY

Healthy families are the foundation of a healthy culture.  We will work to cultivate strong families through godly example, teaching, and encouragement, and be a loving and nurturing family to each other.

TEXTS: Gen. 12:1-3; 28:13-15; Deut. 6:4-9; Ps. 78:4-7

MISSIONAL LIVING

Every Christian is a missionary sent somewhere by God.  God has given our church a mission to accomplish and we desire to be focused on that mission, faithful to that mission, and fruitful in that mission as missionaries to our communities and beyond.  We love Manheim, Lititz, and Lancaster County, and we desire to serve our community with Christlike and selfless kindness and desire to see the Gospel transform our county one person at a time.  We also desire to engage our nation and world through national and global missions.

TEXTS: Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15; Acts 1:8

SOVEREIGN GRACE

God has a good and gracious plan and the supreme power and authority to carry it out.  We will work to trust and rejoice in His sovereignty and gracious pursuit of sinners and submit to the leading of His Holy Spirit in our lives.

TEXTS: Eph. 1:3-11; Acts 2:22-23; 4:26-28; Eph. 2:1-10; 1 Tim. 6:15; Rev.6:10

FOCUSED PRAYER

Because God hears and answers our prayers and accomplishes His will through prayer, we will endeavor to continually pray for specific people, leaders, businesses, and organizations in the Lititz/Manheim community.

TEXTS: 1 Thess. 5:17; Jude 20; Matt. 5:44; 6:9-13; 9:37-38

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Every man, woman, and child has influence on others, and we desire to develop and grow that influence for Christ.  Within our spheres of influence, we will strive to lead others to take a step closer to Jesus Christ.

TEXTS: Eph. 4:11-14; Ex. 18; Heb. 13:7; 1 Cor. 11:1

SIMPLE EXCELLENCE

Ministry and mission can oftentimes become overly complicated.  Keeping things simple, organized, clear, and concise is helpful, more effective, and more conducive for excellence.  We will aim to keep things simple, to do more with less, and always do our very best for God’s glory.

TEXTS: 2 Cor. 1:12; 1 Cor. 10:31; Col. 3:23; 2 Cor. 8:7; Ex. 36:2; 1 Chron. 25:7

ENCOURAGING TEAMWORK

The church is a body, family, and team, and every Christian has a spiritual gift to be used do advance God’s mission.  We are committed to create a safe atmosphere of teamwork and delegation where everyone uses their gift(s) to accomplish God’s mission while being inspired along the way.
